Quick Lox And Bagel Dish

This dish was first widely enjoyed in New York and among Jewish Americans and features lox, a bagel, cream cheese, red onion, capers, and fresh dill. Its creamy yet refreshing flavor is perfect for a lazy weekend brunch or everyday snack.

Equipment

  • 1 Toaster
  • 1 Mandoline slicer optional

Ingredients

  • 2 bagels sliced in half
  • 4 tbsp cream cheese I like whipped cream cheese
  • 4 slices lox
  • 4 slices red onion sliced very thin
  • 2 tsp capers
  • 1/4 tsp fresh dill no stems
  • 2 wedges lemon

Instructions

  • Cut the bagels in 1/2. I like mine thin so I cut out the center. Toast until golden brown.
  • Spread each side with cream cheese.
  • Use a mandolin to shave very thin slices of red onion to taste.
  • Drain a few capers, and add on top.
  • Pinch off some fresh dill.
  • Use lemon slices to bring out the flavor. I like a little squeeze on top.

Notes

A few of my favorite things:
-Trader Joe's Everything Bagels
-Pacific Supreme, smoked Atlantic salmon. Pre-sliced, ready-to-serve (from TJ's)
-Philadelphia whipped cream cheese, original
